Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The Construction Estimator’s job is to determine the cost of construction projects before they begin. This involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to estimate labor, material, and equipment costs. The estimator also works with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers to secure bids and manage the estimating process. This will include managing the Office Engineer.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science/Management preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to estimating and takeoff software platforms.
  • Problem solving skills to identify and resolve potential cost overruns or issues
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with PMs, estimators, and field personnel effectively.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, mathematics, and geometry as it applies to construction.
  • Detail oriented to accurately analyze project documents and track costs
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review incoming bid invitations for scope, schedule, region, market competition, and project fit.
  • Calculate the estimated cost of construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Partner with Project Managers on cost analysis to identify potential cost saving measures and manage project budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records and use efficient estimating methods to ensure project profitability.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in construction cost estimating.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to assemble takeoffs, estimates, and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs when needed, contractor proposals, and public bid submissions.
  • Maintain and update a pricing database, including material and labor rates, quantities, and estimating standards.
  • Work with the PM team on schedule and bid planning to balance workload and avoid capacity gaps.
  • Supervise and support takeoff personnel, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Solicit engineers, owners, and other stakeholders to identify and pursue future work opportunities.
  • Prepare project budgets, drawings, and supporting documentation for handoff to the project management team for awarded jobs.
  • Manage and update the bid calendar, planner, and active bid folders.
  • Attend weekly management meetings and estimating huddles to align with company goals and operations.
